Oasis Guild Divisions and By-laws:

I.                    Guild Divisions:  The descriptions are exemplary, not exhaustive

a.       Artists: Create items of primarily aesthetic value

b.      Binders: Make paper, books, scrolls 

c.       Craftsmen/Artisans: Make practical items such as tables, clothes

d.      Engineers: Design homes, weapons, mines, bridges

e.       Entertainers: Performers such as storytellers, dancers, musicians

f.        Farmers: Grow and harvest plants, animals, milk, wood 

g.       Formalists: trade on formal magic skills

h.       Mercenaries: trade on battle skills

i.         Sages: Students of Lore, astrology.

j.        Scouts: guide along trade routes, to building sites

k.      Smiths: Make weapons, armor, ironworks 

l.         Tincturists: Alchemists, brewers, potion-makers, herbalists

m.     Woodsmen: Hunters, furriers, trappers

II.                 By-laws:

a.       Joining:

                                                               i.      New members must choose a division to join

                                                             ii.      Members must show at least apprentice level aptitude in a relevant skill to join or be listed in any division

                                                            iii.      Members must have a residence within the Oasis, or closely surrounding areas. 

                                                           iv.      Local nobles may join if doing so will not interfere with his/her duties. 

                                                             v.      Nobles from other towns and lands are refused membership.

b.      Listings:

                                                               i.      Primary: In their primary (chosen division) Members will be listed as Apprentice, Journeyman, or Master/Mistress

                                                             ii.      Other Divisions: If a member chooses to be listed in secondary divisions, (s)he will be listed at rank with the phrase “Also Available”

c.       Responsibilities:

                                                               i.      Dues: Two gold per year

                                                             ii.      Teaching: Members must be willing to provide teaching to others within their primary division at little or no cost, and should be available to other guild members. 

                                                            iii.      Commissions: Members must give priority to commissions from other members

d.      Privileges:

                                                               i.      Booths: Members are given first priority for booths at market gatherings (the cost of the booths are covered by dues)

                                                             ii.      Listing:  A listing of all guild members will be maintained for all inquiries for jobs or commissioned works

                                                            iii.      Teaching will be provided by guild members to other members at minimal or no cost.  For those normal skills with no available teachers within the guild, a teacher will be found at guild expense. 

                                                           iv.      Housing: If the member’s residence is sufficiently inconvenient for sleeping during a market day, then the guild will give priority to members for housing during the gathering. Fee will be waived.     

e.       Cooperation with other Izendorn guilds:

                                                               i.      Booths: Members of other kingdom guilds will be given second priority and only charged half price (five silver per day) for booths during market days.

                                                             ii.      Housing: Members of other kingdom guilds will be given second priority for housing during market gatherings.  Fee will be one gold per night per party of five or less. 

f.        Non-members-any mortal who is not a member of an Izendorn Guild-

                                                               i.      May be charged for teaching by guild members

                                                             ii.      Pay full price for booths at market gatherings (one gold per day) and are given last priority.  A reserve list will be maintained for booths that have been assigned, but the listed person has either finished use or not shown. 

                                                            iii.      Will be given last priority for housing during market gatherings, and will pay a fee of one gold per night per party of five or less. 

g.       Legal Notes:

                                                               i.      Misrepresentation as a guild member by non-guild members in order to gain privileges shall result in prosecution under theft laws.

                                                             ii.      Disputes on commissions that result in property damage or other loss of funds shall be prosecuted under appropriate laws.  Guild members are encouraged to keep commission books in order to minimize such difficulties.
