Izendorn Nobility Structure

In the kingdom of Izendorn, there is a specific order of ranks for the nobles.  Even within these ranks, however, there are some variations in authority.  For example, a noble of the king’s house is considered as having a higher rank than a noble of the same rank of a duchal house.  Likewise, a noble of a duchal house is considered as having a higher rank than a noble of the same rank of a baronial house.  That having been said, no sitting noble (the ruling noble assigned to a barony or duchy) may be over-ruled within their own seat without a direct order from the sitting noble who granted him/her those lands and authority.

There are other variations within some ranks, as the authority of each noble is tied directly to their duties.  Their authority and rank beyond that is courtesy.  When a noble carries more than one title, he/she is properly addressed as his/her highest rank.

The following ranks are not considered technically noble, but are above commoners.  By commoners, those who hold these ranks should be accorded similar courtesy as granted to nobles for the work they do. Commoners require a noble sponsor to challenge a holder of one of these titles to a duel.  Likewise, the holder of one of these ranks must have a true noble sponsor to challenge another true noble to a duel.
